We really need your help and are running out of time before Christmas! We have experienced an increase of client needs compared to last year and still have many families who have not been "adopted" yet. Our clients are adults or children who have experienced sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, human trafficking, child abuse, or neglect.
When you adopt a family, you will receive a copy of the wish list they have filled out with the help of their SOS advocate. It will include genders, ages, sizes, and some of their favorite things. Our wish lists vary in size and need. Some are a single child or adult, some are large families, and some are starting over in a new, safe location and in need of household items to get back on their feet. We try to match a wish list with your budget and there is not an expectation to provide every item on a wish list.
Some examples of items that you might see on a wish list include a winter coat, hat, gloves, hygiene items, clothing, shoes, bedding, towels, small appliances, pots and pans, and gift cards for food or gas. If there is a baby or small child, they might need diapers, a car seat, or a portable crib.
Please deliver all unwrapped gifts to our Emporia location (1420 C of E Drive) before December 17th, so we have time to get them to the families before Christmas.
