2024 SOS Strong Ambassadors Announced

Updated: Jul 12

The 2024 SOS Strong Campaign kicked off for the 10th year on July 9 with this year’s SOS Strong Ambassadors joining in the continuing effort to be upstanders in the fight against sexual and domestic violence, stalking, human trafficking, child abuse and neglect. SOS Strong is an annual fundraiser that began in 2015 to highlight masculine role models that demonstrate positive examples of strength, community leadership, and fatherhood. These Ambassadors also demonstrate that abuse isn’t just a women’s problem, it’s everyone’s problem. The Ambassadors represent SOS by helping bring awareness to these important issues and by raising $1,000 each to support SOS programs.

The 2024 SOS Strong Ambassadors are Sinjin Andrews, Scott Capes, Joe Corn, Jared Germann, Andrew Hawley, John Koelsch, Deon Morrow, Kerry Moyer, Joel Obando, Owen Reed, Bryon Rosine, and Brent Thomas.

Each SOS Strong Ambassador has taken a pledge to lead by example, never blame victims, be a positive up-stander rather than a willing bystander, not engage in any acts of violence, stand up for someone in need and always use their voice to speak up for what is right. In the SOS Strong Campaign, men are featured from within the SOS service area who display leadership, provide community support, and are dedicated to helping SOS stop sexual and domestic violence, stalking, human trafficking, child abuse and neglect.

SOS Strong will run from July 9 to August 19. Community members will be able to find information about the events and activities planned by SOS Strong Ambassadors on SOS’ Facebook, Instagram, and X at @soskansas. To donate towards an SOS Strong Ambassador’s goal, visit soskansas.com/sos-strong. Donations can also be sent through Venmo to @SOS-CVEC with the Ambassador’s name in the comments.  Another way to donate is to send a check made payable to SOS to 1420 C of E Drive, Suite 6, Emporia. SOS is grateful to the community for the generous support given.

Some ways that everyone can help to prevent interpersonal violence are:

  • leading by example and treating others with respect

  • modeling healthy relationships and being a positive role model for youth

  • understanding the impact of the language that we use

  • recognizing the signs, symptoms, and seriousness of abusive relationships

  • working to change the attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors that contribute to social acceptance of violence

The SOS Helpline is available 24 hours a day by calling 1-800-825-1295 or texting SOSKS to 847411. SOS  provides services to those who have experienced sexual and domestic violence, stalking, human trafficking, child abuse and neglect. SOS provides services in Chase, Coffey, Lyon, Morris, and Osage counties through the organizations four programs: SOS Crisis Services and Outreach; SOS CASA of the Flint Hills, SOS Child Visitation and Exchange Center, and SOS Child Advocacy Center.
