As part of Domestic Violence Awareness month in October, SOS will be hosting a community education and prevention training. SOS would like to cordially invite law enforcement, mental health professionals, local educators, community agencies and also concerned residents to join them in eradicating interpersonal violence and help turn survivors into thrivers in the aftermath of domestic abuse.

This free event will go beyond the common basics to delve into critical details about utilizing our newly launched text line and the SOS Emergency Shelter, accessing diversified victim services, assessing lethality risks, recognizing batterers' personality traits, removing barriers to client service and recovery, expanding prevention education efforts, and the growing importance of emotional support and mental health therapy. Guest speakers include Lyon County Sheriff's Deputy Jim Baker and Batterer Intervention State Assessment Coordinator, Jenn Horst, LMSW, along with SOS staff.
